Movreak for Symbian Get More Serious

Movreak for Symbian get more serious with its new update, v1.3. This version is the first version that gets Singapore data support. Yeah, now you can view now playing movies, show times, and theaters in Singapore. So, next time you go to Singapore to watch Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallow Part 2 (as it’s not yet played in Indonesia as of today), make sure you use Movreak.

It’s more social by allowing you to watch movie together (nonton bareng) with your friends. Just choose a movie’s show time, and tap Nonton Bareng, and invite your friends.

My Profile allows you to sign in to Movreak. By signing in, you can post and reply reviews, and more features in the future. Here you change your photo and displayed name, connected services (Twitter or Facebook), preferences (city and theater). There are shortcuts to check Nonton Bareng event, view your own reviews, create new review, and even post any status to Facebook and/or Twitter.

It’s less than two weeks, we come up with another update. The update contains bugs fixing and a few features addition.

  • Fix critical bugs when posting showtime or review to Facebook
  • Fix a bug when synchronizing theater data
  • Fix other minor bugs and consistency issues
  • Add a new feature: awesome cover flow on Now Playing. Just rotate your device while on Now Playing, you’ll see it.

This version contains bugs fixing and a few features addition.

Significant fixed bugs:

  • Cannot sign-in with Facebook account.
  • Created event is not shown correctly time in Facebook
  • Bugs on Watching Plan

Few features:

  • Previously, if you want to check-in or view nearby places, shown venues are limited and you can’t search more. Now you can search venues by keyword.
  • View tweets about a movie from Movie Detail page.
  • Cool splash screen

Movreak for Symbian Finally Arrives

After 2 months development, spending more than 400 working hours, tons of coffee and packs of cigarettes, Movreak 1.0 for Symbian^3 finally arrives. Symbian OS introduces certain challenges for us to create a great user experience app, but we finally managed to tweak and fine tune Movreak for Symbian, so it can match its sibling, Movreak for iOS.

Movreak for Symbian introduces a new UI elements, a new Home among other things. Some UI elements are neon-based, inspired by Tron movie. Some backgrounds is in Batik pattern, considering this app is 100% Indonesia app, created by 100% Indonesian developers & company.

What’s New in Movreak 2.1

This version contains a huge features update. Some of them are:

iPhone 4 retina display support. That’s why this version has a big file size (7.2MB), most of the files are images for the new retina display.

Facebook: deep integration with Facebook

  • Share review, status, watching plan, showtimes to FB
  • Create event for ‘nonton bareng’ or ‘nongkrong bareng’ and invite friends

Foursquare:

  • Checkin directly from Movreak. You can use Movreak to check-in to any places you are right now, without having to use Foursquare app.
  • View theater’s nearby places, so you can spend time before/after watching movie

Now Playing:

  • Now you can view movies and showtimes not only for today, but for next or previous day, only for blitzmegaplex movies.
  • View people’s tweets about a movie.

User Review:

  • Now you can “like” a review
  • In-reply box can be expanded to view full content of replied review.

Movie Details:

  • Now you view movie poster in full screen by clicking to movie poster on Movie Details page
  • Better synopsis appearance. Previously, you have to scroll down for long synsopsis, now you can expand/collapse it as needed.

Theater:

  • On theater list, rotate your device and you can view a map contains theaters’ location

Theater Details: Theater detail UI is revamped. Now, you can:

  • View nearby places. So you know where you want to spend time before or after watching movie, and even check-in there
  • View map, to view a theater’s location on a map and find a route/direction to there from current location
  • View nearby tweets.

Watching plan

  • Add your watching plan and share it
  • View who’s planning or currently watching a movie
  • Manage movies you’re about to watch or already watched. So, you won’t watch it twice :)

Known Issues

Sign-in to Facebook:

Sign-in to Facebook using 3G/EGDE/GPRS internet connection might be failed, while using WIFI connection is just fine. So far we only tested using Telkomsel 3G, so we don’t know whether the issue happens on another 3G provider. You can try to access http://facebook.com from iPhone’s Safari web browser, and try to sign-in, it will be failed too. So, it’s not Movreak’s bugs.

To overcome that problem, the easiest way is sign-in first using WIFI connection. We’ll cover the complete solution in a separate blog post. Please contact us for further information at: movreak at dycode dot com.

Ketidaktersediaan Fitur Check Seats pada Movreak v2.0

Yes, Movreak v2.0 sudah di-approve dan sudah available on the App Store mulai tadi pagi.

Para Movreak-ers yang sudah update ke Movreak v2.0 mungkin bertanya, “where the heck ‘Check Seats’ feature?”. Kami memang pernah mem-publish video teaser di sini, dan didalamnya ditunjukkan fitur Check Seats untuk teater-teater blitzmegaplex. Pada final release Movreak v2.0 ternyata fitur tersebut harus dihilangkan. Apa yang terjadi?

Sejujurnya, sebenarnya fitur tersebut ada di dalam Movreak v2.0, hanya saja belum diaktifkan. Sesuai namanya, fitur “Check Seats” berfungsi untuk menampilkan layout dan ketersediaan kursi di sebuah teater untuk sebuah film dan pada jam tayang tertentu. Saat ini fitur tersebut tersedia khusus untuk blitzmegaplex, dan tentu saja fitur itu bergantung pada data seats yang bersumber langsung dari blitzmegaplex. Data tersebut sebenarnya tersedia untuk konsumsi umum melalui website blitzmegaplex. Yang kami lakukan hanyalah membaca data tersebut, dan melakukan sedikit formatting sehingga menjadi lebih menarik untuk dilihat dan sesuai dengan tema warna dan desain Movreak secara keseluruhan.

Hi Movreak users,

We do apologize just update here. Lately, our team has been very focus in developing Movreak update for iOS4.

To answer most users’ concern, t’s true that Movreak can’t be opened in iOS4. That’s caused by changes internally in iOS4.  There’re a lot of API changes in it. The user interfaces those are fine in iOS3, become scattered in iOS4.

But don’t worry, we’ll release the update within this week. Not only bugs fix, there are also new features and complete make over to user interfaces.

To prove you that the features have been developed, here’s the screenshots posted to YouTube.

It’s in heavy testing now. Hopefully everything goes smooth and the update will be available in no time.

Movreak in One Week

Selama 1 minggu terakhir, sejak diluncurkan pada tanggal 8 Mei 2010, Movreak mengalami pencapaian yang luar biasa. Tidak pernah terlintas dalam benak kami bahwa Movreak akan booming seperti ini, dibutuhkan dan disukai banyak orang.

Lihat saja post-post di thread forum Mac Club Indonesia di sini: http://macclubindonesia.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59358. Tidak disangka begitu banyak animo teman-teman di sana. Semuanya menyatakan penghargaan terhadap Movreak dan semuanya memiliki awareness untuk membeli secara legal, bukan hasil crack.  Movreak berhasil menumbuhkan kesadaran banyak orang tentang pentingnya penghargaan terhadap hasil karya anak bangsa, dengan tidak membeli bajakan.

Memang ada kendala dengan keharusan memiliki kartu kredit untuk bisa membeli aplikasi berbayar di AppStore. Tapi hal itu tidak menghalangi teman-teman untuk mencari jalan agar tetap bisa mendapatkan Movreak. Thanks guys! Four thumbs up for you.
